PIM (product information management)
Also known as PIM, product information management. Category: E-commerce and workflow
A product information management (PIM) system is the central store of product data, such as names, descriptions, attributes, prices and links to images, from which the data is published to web shops, marketplaces and print. Product images are linked to PIM records, usually by SKU, so the PIM needs to know when new images are ready.
How PhotoRobot uses it
PhotoRobot Cloud customer webhooks are designed to tell a PIM or DAM when hosted media becomes downloadable, so the product can be refreshed with spins, stills and metadata in one pass. Macro PI Action can write answers about an image into a metadata field destined for the PIM.
